Not including constant regions in such simulations is a commonly used simplification that is found throughout the literature. This is mainly due a massive saving in computational runtime as illustrated below: <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2962\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?resize=625%2C477&ssl=1\" alt=\"cutConstRegions\" width=\"625\" height=\"477\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?resize=1024%2C782&ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?resize=300%2C229&ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?resize=768%2C587&ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?resize=624%2C477&ssl=1 624w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blopig.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cutConstRegions.jpg?w=1140&ssl=1 1140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n
The constant regions contain about 210 residues but an additional speed up comes from the much smaller solvation box.
